3ds max is probably the most widely distributed 3D rendering and animation software for professionals and Intel processors have always outperformed anything that AMD had to throw in.
Underwater World

800 x 600, render time in seconds, shorter is better. The P4 processors have a clear edge in 3ds max.

C-Balls

There is no doubt about the fact that any kind of rendering in 3ds max will push the P4 ahead in the game. In view of these results, the Sysmark scores look even better for the Athlon64, take out one single application and the tables might turn completely. What is further interesting is the fact that the single memory channel Athlon64 beats the FX-51 in all three runs at the same clock speed. This means that the lower latency more than makes up for the lower memory bandwidth.
