3ds max is the most common 3D rendering software and as such it is also included in the Sysmark2004 suite. Historically, 3ds max benchmarks have been a homerun for the Pentium4 and it appears that even the FX53 cannot change this too much. Keep in mind, though that it is not only the application itself but also the weighing of geometry vs. textures and visual effects that greatly influence the outcome of the benchmark.
We used three different rendering benchmarks, that is, CBalls, Single Pipe and Unterwater World:

Render time in seconds, lower is better.
As suspected, in the specific set of benchmarks, the P4 keeps abreast of any AMD CPUs. On the other hand, there are other 3D-rendering programs out there that may not reach the distribution of 3ds max but are equally interesting.
