3D Rendering, Discreet 3dsmax
Personally, I believe that 3D Rendering should drive the PC market rather than gaming but with the general clientele of ADD plagued teenagers driving sales, it won't happen. Not soon at least...

The single pipe scene is one example of the 3dsmax benchmark suite that shows how important dual cores / SMP can be for the professional artist.

Underwater Environment really consists of a series of 300 frames that are put together for an animated sequence. Each frame takes 5 passes to render and the higher clock speed of the FX57 is simply no substitute for dual systems of any sort. The difference in rendering time between an X2-4800+ and the FX57 is approximately 80 seconds - times 300 .... Point made!
