WorldBench5 Continued

The second part of our WorldBench5 suite looks at Windows Media Encoder 9.0, Music Match Juke Box, Roxio VideoWave MovieCreator and Winzip. Keep in mind that most of these applications are somewhat single thread scenarios that may only partially take advangate of the dual core technology. This is especially true for Winzip and Music Match Jukebox whereas multimedia encoding scenarios like WME and VideoWave MovieCreator are running multiple threads which will show in the direct comparison between the Athlon 64 4000+ scores with those of the dual core X2 4800+.

Windows Media Encoder 9.0

Aside from the overall placement, the critical issue is to look at the improvement over the Athlon64 4000+ scores.

Music Match Juke Box

Music Match JukeBox basically shows no improvement over the single core, consistent with a single threaded application

Roxio VideoWave MovieCreator

Where video and audio meet, there is a high likely hood of multiple threads being involved. In essence, this is the same scenario as that we were looking at in Windows Media Encoder 9.0

Winzip

There is one file that needs to be compressed and that's it. Multiple cores or processors will not add to the speed of this benchmark
