 AMD Athlon XP3200+
A Deja Vu Review That Did Happen
(Review by MS, May 13, 2003)
Patches and Driver Updates

Last not least, there are some driver updates / patches that will enhance performance in some applications. One example is the patch Q312125 that will work around one problem in the detection and use of processor optimizations in the latest Intel Pentium 4 and AMD Athlon XP processors when using Windows Media Format 7.1 Software Development Kit. That is, AMD's 3Dnow! Pro optimizations (SSE) will not properly be used by ContentCreation Winstone2002 and Content Creation Sysmark 2001.

Suffice it to say that in our hypothetical preview, we had APIC enabled and did not use the media format 7.1 SDK optimization patch. In any case, there is only so much that we have not written yet on that subject, so let's jump right into the CPU specs before moving on to the actual benchmarks.
