 AMD Athlon XP3200+
A Deja Vu Review That Did Happen
(Review by MS, May 13, 2003)
Business Winstones

Business Winstones have always been the strong side of AMD processors and the 3200+ is no exception here. What is interesting, though, is that there is no difference between the results with APIC enabled and those with APIC disabled, even though one might expect the opposite. On the other hand, keep in mind that Business applications usually do not encompass very large files that would require the same excessive use of the swap file like some applications running in ContentCreation Winstones.

Business Winstone 2001

Somewhat outdated by now, it is a matter of another few weeks until somebody breaks through the 100 points score threshold, which should be easy enough with a well greased SATA RAID setup. Until then we stick with single drive configurations. For the record, the extremely low score of the Canterwood platform in this discipline is most likely related to immature IDE drivers for the ICH5.

Wolfgang Stommel, a.k.a. Athlon Rulez, no further comments necessary. (A) means that APIC Mode was enabled.

Business Winstone 2002

The latest installation of the Business Winstone suite does not close the gap between the P4 and the Athlon.

Same as above. (A) means that APIC Mode was enabled.
