Futuremark
Futuremark's 3DMark series, originating from the first and maybe best gaming benchmark ever - I am talking about FinalReality1.1 - does not need any introduction. We used the CPU test of both the 2005 and the 2006 release.

The second part of the CPU test in 3DMark'05 is multithreaded but does not effectively take advantage of more than 2 cores. In fact, CPU Test 1 only runs on a single core (with 25% CPU utilization on a Quad system) whereas CPU Test 2 pushes approximately 50% on a Quad system. As a result, the Kentsfield CPU does not overpower the Core2 Extreme x6800 running at 10% higher clock speed. 3DMark'06, on the other hand takes full advantage of the four cores (~90% in a Quad system), and it shows in the benchmark results.
