 Intel's Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX6700
Codename "Kentsfield"
(Review by MS, November 1, 2006)

FarCry

Screenshot from FarCry's Steam level featuring 6 bots

FarCry: 1024x768 resolution Frames per second, higher is better

DOOM3

DOOM3: 640 x 480, low quality: Frames per second, higher is better

It is somewhat ironic that the force that drives most of the PC development, namely gaming, lags most in terms of optimization for SMP. Many games are capable of using two cores, however, four cores are a bit too much to handle. More important, though is the fact that in order to see any differences at all, the resolution and quality need to be turned down to the lowest possible level in order to eliminate the bottleneck of the graphics processors.
