 Intel P4 Extreme Edition
Cache Size Matters
(Review by MS, October 11, 2003)
SPECapc for 3dsmax

Similar to ViewPerf, SPECapc for 3dsmax requires a professional graphics card in order to run properly. At the end, a number of scores is generated that are compiled into a CPU score, a graphics (GFX) score and the arithmetic means of both.

3dsmax CPU

Total

It is interesting to see how much power the extra L3 cache breathes into the P4. The improved graphics scores are basically just a s side-effect.

3dsmax Raytracing

All scores: runtime in seconds, lower is better!

Single Pipe

CBalls

Underwater Environment

When it comes to static ray tracing in 3dsmax5, there is essentially no benefit of the extra cache.
