 Intel P4 Extreme Edition
Cache Size Matters
(Review by MS, October 11, 2003)
3DMark2001SE

The icon amongst the system / graphics benchmarks. Despite the fact that 3DMark2001SE only tests DX8.1 capabilities, it is preferable over 3DMark2003 as a system benchmark, the latter, as we'll show below does not have enough granularity to reveal system performance differences in the overall score.

The Extreme Edition takes a rather extreme performance leap but does not reach the Athlon FX-51

3DMark2003

In 3DMark2003, the P4EE pulls ahead of the pack.

3DMark2003 CPU Test

The performance difference shows better in the isolated CPU Tests, where the P4EE is clearly ahead in the overall CPU score

3DMark2003 CPU Test1

Interestinly, the Athlon FX-51 still takes the first CPU Test benchmark

3DMark2003 CPU Test2

However, in CPU Test2, the P4EE's lead is greater than the FX-51 in Test1, which gives the overall ranking shown above.
