| Pentium4 2.4 GHz Another Turning Point | |
| (Review by MS, April 8, 2002) |
The chapterhouse benchmark for the P4 is still an excellent tool for measuring system performance. Even though the game engine is getting somewhat old, there are still some uncharted fps values and records that need to be broken.
Sound was disabled in all timedemos otherwise we used the standard settings without any tweaks for the retail version pf O3A, upgraded to Point Release 1.30 and these recomplied DLLs to bring out the best of the P4.

Pretty impressive scores here. Interestingly, the GF4 4600 appears to have no problem at all with the 800x600 x 32bpp setting.

Those are the highest scores I have seen so far for Quake3 Arena. Note that at 800x600x32 bpp the Ti4600 finally concedes by just a tad.
