 Intel Pentium4 "Prescott"
To Scale or not to Scale, that is our question.
(Review by MS, May. 23, 2004)
Intel Prescott
Starting at:
Unreal Tournament 2003

We are using the botmatch as an indicator of CPU power and the results show the Prescott in a much better light than Comanche4 but it still has no chance against any of the other Intel CPUs.

UT2003 shows more of a dependency of the benchmark outcome on the clock speed than on the type of P4 used, that is, as long as the Extreme Edition is not factored in. In the final analysis, it appears that the larger L2 cache of the Prescott compensates for the increased pipeline stages, no more and, if anything, just a little less.

Both Northwood and Prescott are scaling about the same, give or take a few percentage points.
