Why are we still using 6.0 and not 6.5? The short answer to the question is that 6.5 takes about twice as long as 6.0 but is optimized for WinXP. I don't care about any optimizations if they cause a 50% performance hit, especially if the workload is measured in hours. Expanding 6 hours of work to 12 hours, I might just go back to a K6-III in this case.

Runtime in seconds: we are converting a 50 MB AVI file into JPG format, home theater at its best. Once again, the P4 2.53 GHz wins. But halt, we cheated, in this case we were running the memory bus at 200 MHz or 400 MHz data rate. Otherwise, the data speak for themselves
Aside from video home editing, one of the ever growing but wastly neglected markets of the PC business is the digital art. Companies like Amorphium and Caligari provide tools that are outstanding for the creation of true forms of art by artistes known for their inspiration rather than their ... that was Hulk Hogan some 15 years ago.
Facts about this artform are that objects that live from very complex geometry (FPU) will see a huge performance increase with the AMD processors, some others that thrive on textures (integer) will gain momentum with the P4. We are using our own benchmark, courtesy of Adam Trachtenberg.

Runtime in seconds, shorter is better. The XP2200 is the first single processor able to break the 2 min threshold. Details of the benchmark are found here.
