In Expendable, the test system initially showed a rather disappointing performance. Scores of 115-116 fps at 1200 MHz are not exactly earth-shattering and even a 123 fps result at 1332 MHz is on the meager side. However, once again, the devil turned out to be in the detail. What happened was that the benchmark was run using the ATi Radeon DDR64 which is, aside of the Matrox G400/450, the only graphics card with support for Environment-Mapped Bump Mapping. Running at benchmark speed it is difficult to appreciate the difference in quality, however, the additional 3-dimensional representation of the environment does cause a noticeable slowing down of the timedemo. Substituting the MSI MS8809 GeForce 256 for the Radeon confirmed this suspicion and yielded the following scores:
