3DMark 2001

To eliminate the influence of the Graphics card as much as possible, 3DMark 2001 was run at the lowest resolution, that is 640 x 480 x 16 bpp with both the 2.0 GHz and the 2.2 GHz Northwood clocked at 2500 MHz (2.0A, 125 MHz bus) and 2640 MHz (2.2, 120 MHz bus) and the results don't have to shy away from any comparison. Keep in mind that the RADEON 8500LE was running at 288 MHz core/memory.

2.5 GHz Clock Speed

Not quite the fastest system in the world yet but still ranking in the top 25 at the time of submission to MadOnion

2.64 GHz Clock Speed

Increasing the clock speed gives another boost but the graphics card becomes the limiting factor even at the lowest resolution

Quake3 Arena, 2.64 GHz

We used the retail version of Quake3 Arena upgraded to Point Release 1.30 and the recompiled DLLs to run Demo_four.

Average Frames per second in Demo_four and the default "Fastest", "Fast", "Normal" and "High Quality" setting. Despite the fact that the Radeon does not score as well as the GeForce3 Ti 500 in Quake3 Arena, the scores are very, er, respectable.
