| ATI FIRE GL 8800 ... with gasoline | |
| (Review by MS, June 22, 2002) |
Test Configurations
As mentioned on the top page, one main aspect of this review was going to be to find the optimal platform for a mid-range workstation and we were targeting a dual AMD Athlon MPX system. I also mentioned that there was a flaw in the logic behind this. Well, it is not entirely true but for benchmarking sake, this will remain a valid point since we can only capture the performance of the FireGL 8800 in animated sequences and not in 3D rendering of objects using e.g. Caligari trueSpace where any dual system will have a major advantage courtesy of the doubled FPU performance.
