Hot Offers for the FireGL

 ATI FIRE GL 8800
... with gasoline
(Review by MS, June 22, 2002)

Platform Comparisons

Light-04

Light-04 has always been a stronghold of the Pentium4 while it never got really great scores with any Athlon processor, however, the differences have never been as pronounced as with the FireGL 8800.

A single P4 faster than a dual Athlon system? The numbers are correct but we believe that there are still driver issues that need to get resolved.

Me3dMCAD-01

Memory bandwidth and latencies count once again. It appears as if the two P4 systems actually saturate the capabilities of the FireGL 8800.

ProCDRS-03

ProCDRS, a 3D-painting program finally pushes the two AMD systems to the top with the single XP2100+ leading over both the Dual Athlon XP2000+ and both P4 2.533 systems. ProCDRS is very interesting in that it is an extremely triangle-packed application, meaning that there is a huge amount of FPU power required on the CPU side as well as a very good implementation of tesselation on the GPU end of things
