Platform Comparisons Continued

3DStudio Max

3DSMax is usually a homerun for AMD powered systems, surprisingly enough, the P4's pull ahead big time. Keep in mind though , that we are not talking about 3D rendering which requires primarily floating point power but animated sequences that are mostly limited by memory bandwidth. In addition, we still believe that the AGP interfacing could partially account for the low performance of the AMD systems, again, this can be addressed with future driver optimizations

There is not much comment necessary except that 3DSMax may not be the strongest point of the FireGL 8800 to begin with as we'll show later.

Design Review 08

Finally, we also see a difference between the RDRAM and the DDR P4 systems. A nice surprise comes from the VIA KT333 platform that holds the second place despite a whopping 800 MHz clock speed handicap.

DX07

The latest version of data explorer is a bit more demanding again and produces overall lower scores. What is interesting here is that with the latest drivers we were able of almost doubling the scores of Aceshardware, however, only on the P4 platform, there is some hope, though that we'll see another boost on the AMD platforms with one of the next driver revisions.
