| ATI RADEON 9800 Power to the F-Buffer (what else is new?) | |
| (Review by MS, July 18, 2003) |
CodeCreatures
For me, CodeCreatures is almost the "mother" of all benchmarks, that is, I would like to see a game using these effects, with little critters jumping out of the grass and, well, skip the butterflies and put nasty horseflies in instead and a swarm of yellowjackets ...

Here the raw extra power of the 9800 compared to the 9700 shows, as long as there is no AA (4 x) enabled.
Comanche4

Comanche4 is too CPU and memory limited to challenge either card. Only at the highest settings are the frame rates dropping marginally and the 9800 stays on top.
MDK2

MDK2 is still one of the visually most appealing games out there using OpenGL instead of D3D. Like in Comanche4, neither card is too impressed with increasing the resolution. Only if 6 x Antialiasing and 16 x Anisotropic filtering is applied, the differences show.
VillageMark

It appears as if the 9800 went over the top of the frame rate counter, that is, VillageMark was running flawlessly but the counter returned a 0 at the 1024 x 768 setting.
D3DFablemark

I'd love to see some numbers for this benchmark with a KyroII but the only one I have is broken.
