Although very similar on the surface, the two cards are different not only with respect to some of the components used but also with regard to the PCB layout. Note the different power connnector at the rear end. All in all, however, the differences are not earth shaking but probably enough to prevent any rework of a 5900 Ultra to enable Quadro FX mode.
