    Final Thoughts

    Give us some feedback

  •  Sapphire RADEON X1900 XTX
    Arguably the fastest out there..
(Review by MS, February 20, 2006)
    ATI X1600 XT

    Test Configurations

Since we are comparing the X1900 XTX to both Crossfire and SLI platforms, we had to use two different testbeds, namely the DFI LAN Party UT NF4 SLI and the Sapphire A9RD480. In the middle of finishing up the benchmarking, the Catalyst 6.2 driver suite was released which yields, application-dependent up to 20% performance increase over the previously used 5.13 drivers, and to get the latest results in, we re-ran essentially all benchmarks shown with the exception of the GTO2 using 12 pixel pipelines. Beyond some minor fluctuations, the outcome of the benchmarks for the X1900 XTX was identical for both platforms.

In short, the test configurations were as follows:

    Crossfire Platform

    • SAPPHIRE PC-A9RD480
    • AMD Athlon64 X2-4800
    • 2 x 512 MB OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Gold GX XTC Dual Channel
    • SAPPHIRE RADEON X850 XT PE (Crossfire Edition), Sapphire RADEON X1900 XTX
    • Maxtor DiamondMax9 160 MB HDD
    • Sony 12 x DVD
    • OCZ 520 ADJ PowerStream PSU
